There are many benefits to becoming a member of the Canadian Hearing Instrument Practitioners Society.
Are you currently a member of CHIPS, your national professional association? Are you a member of your provincial association? If you're not, we highly recommend it!
If you are a hearing instrument practitioner in Canada, are a member of your provincial association, have your NBC-HIS (National Board Certification in Hearing Instrument Scients), or have completed a 2 year certificate/diploma program in hearing instrument sciences, you are eligible for membership in CHIPS.

Those who have been duly Certified by the National Board for Certification in Hearing Instrument Sciences (NBC-HIS) and are engaged in the practice of testing human hearing and selecting, fitting, counselling, and dispensing hearing instruments, and are a member in good standing of the Provincial Chapter of their professional association. (Full voting privileges.)
Those persons who have attained an equivalent of a two-year diploma/certificate in Hearing Health Sciences from a recognized Canadian educational institution or equivalency as approved by the Board of Directors and are engaged in the practice of testing human hearing and selecting, fitting and/or counseling clients and dispensing hearing instruments and are a member in good standing of the Provincial Chapter of their professional association.
Those persons who have been a full member in good standing of their provincial chapter since January 1, 2001, and are engaged in the testing of human hearing and/or selecting, fitting, counselling, and dispensing hearing instruments.. (Full voting privileges.)
Those persons who meet the criteria to be a Board Certified, Graduate, Provisional, or Student member and are a member in good standing of a professional association that (i)governs the practice of testing human hearing, and selecting, fitting, and/or counselling clients and dispensing hearing instruments and (ii) holds a Corporate Membership. (Full voting privileges)
Those persons who are engaged in the hearing aid industry but are not necessarily involved in all phases of the practice of testing and dispensing. (No voting privileges.)
Those persons who are affiliated with a firm who has as its principal business the testing of human hearing and selecting, fitting and/or counselling, and dispensing hearing instruments but are not personally involved in the delivery of said services. (No voting privileges.)
Those persons enrolled full time in a Hearing Health Science academic program. (No voting privileges.)
