John Letts, BC-HIS—Canadian Governor to IHS, Past Chair 

John is currently the International Hearing Society Governor of Canada as well as the chair of CHIPS (Canadian Hearing Instrument Practitioners Society). He graduated from Alberta College and has taken courses at Grant McEwan under the hearing practitioners program. John has been in the hearing industry since 1984 and is owner/operator of Ex-Cell Hearing Centres Ltd. since 1987. He has been a member of the Board of Directors for SHIPS (Saskatchewan Hearing Instrument Practitioners Society) in the past.

Sandy Bichard, MA, BC-HIS—Chair

Sandy is past-president of the Hearing Instrument Specialists Society of B.C. and has been on the executive of HISS-BC in various positions since 1994. Sandy currently serves as HISS-BC's representative on the CHIPS Board, and is the current Secretary for CHIPS, and she also sits on the Board of Hearing Aid Dealers and Consultants of B.C., the regulatory body for practitioners in B.C.

Sandy has been a co-owner of Richmond Hearing Consultants in Richmond, B.C. since 1982, and began dispensing hearing instruments about 9 years ago. Sandy is a graduate of the University of British Columbia with a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology.

Adele Wiegers, BC-HIS—Director

Adele is married to husband David, mother of two children and has three grandchildren.  She has been involved in the hearing industry for the past 21 years and is the owner/operator of Swift Hearing Centers Inc.  She graduated from the Alberta College and the Grant MacEwan College with a diploma in Hearing Health Sciences.  She has obtained her National Board Certification.  She has served as the Saskatchewan Representative on the Grant McEwan College Advisory Board for two two-year terms.  She has been on the CHIPS board for three years.  She has been a member of the Saskatchewan Hearing Instrument Practitioners Society since its installation, is presently serving as Treasurer and has been a director for the last 16 years.  She was on the first committee in Saskatchewan to try and get the province regulated.  Regulations passed Spring of 2006.

Adele is very motivated and enjoys her work.  She enjoys gardening, cooking, golfing, and entertaining.  Adele and her husband enjoy traveling and visiting with family and friends.

Donald Vincent, BC-HIS—Director

Don is a Hearing Instrument Specialist practicing in New Brunswick's capital city of Fredericton. He is co-owner of Acadia Hearing Aid Co. Ltd. which is in its 30th year of serving central New Brunswick.

Don is a graduate of The University of New Brunswick holding degrees in Commerce and Economics. He also holds certificates from St. Thomas University and Universite Laval.

Don is active in the New Brunswick Hearing Aid Society. Having held the posts of President and Past President he presently holds the post of treasurer in that society. He is also active with the Atlantic Canada Hearing Aid Association of which he is a member. For the past two years he has been the chairman of the education committee.

David Leishman, BC-HIS—Director

David, President of Leishman Hearing Centre and Wensley Hearing Ltd., has been in the hearing aid business for 30 years.

David received his Hearing Aid Practitioner's Diploma from Grant MacEwan Community College and has a post secondary degree from Brigham Young University . He has been an active leader in his provincial association (now the College of Hearing Aid Practitioners of Alberta) in the following capacities: 17 years on the Executive Board; Past-President - AHAPA; Chair, Negotiating Committee; Public Relations Committee; Chair, Nominating Committee; CHIPS Provincial representative.

David and his wife enjoy traveling and vacations with their children and grandchildren. David is an avid sports fan and enjoys golf in the summer and racquetball in the winter.

Joan Loughlin, BC-HIS—Director

Joan Loughlin is married, wife of Roland, mother of three grown sons, Jeffrey, Gregory and Jamie. She graduated from Amalgated Regional High School, Corner Brook, Newfoundland in 1963. She is also a graduate of Western Memorial School of Nursing Assistants, 1965, Corner Brook. She was employed as a medical secretary and audio technician for a otorhinolarnygologist from 1977 to 1987. She trained as a Hearing Instrument Specialist from 1987 - 1990 and received her Hearing Instrument Specialist diploma (as set down by Newfoundland Government Hearing Aid Dealers Board, Minister of Health) in 1990. She a received BC-HIS, in 1992 from HIS. She is the Past-President of the Newfoundland Hearing Instrument Specialist Association, having served as President for 5 years. She was instrumental in forming the Association. She also served as Registrar of Newfoundland Hearing Aid Dealers Board from 1995 -1998, appointed by Minister of Health. She is presently secretary of CHIPS. Joan is the owner/operator of Newfoundland Hearing Health Centres, Corner Brook Ltd. And Stephenville Ltd.

Scott McDonald B.A., BC-HIS—Director

Scott studied music early in life and played professionally for many years. He was educated in Ottawa and Toronto and attended York University and the University of Victoria. He began his career as a Hearing Instrument Specialist in 1999 and now operates McDonald Hearing Centre in Duncan, British Columbia.
He is a member of the Hearing Instrument Specialists Society of B.C. and is HISS-BC’s representative on the CHIPS board. He is also involved in his local Chamber of Commerce and with different business groups in the Cowichan Valley.
Scott and his wife love traveling and enjoy spending time with their dogs.

 

Leslie Holden, BC-HIS—Treasurer

Leslie has been in the hearing business for 27 years and has been a member of the International Hearing Society for 25 years. She worked for The Bay Hearing Centre for 21 years then six years ago she opened her own business, Polo Park Hearing Centre. She is the owner, manager, and Hearing Instrument Specialist. Leslie is sthe President of the Manitoba Hearing Instrument Practitioner Society. She presently sits on the Hearing Aid Board of Manitoba for her third term and is Board Certified in Hearing Instrument Sciences since 1990.

Annette Cross BC-HIS

Annette Cross BC-HIS owner of Provincial Hearing Aid Service Ltd. Has been helping the hard of hearing for over 15 yrs. Currently she is the treasurer of the Hearing Aid Society of Nova Scotia . Past positions were President of the Atlantic Hearing Aid Society and Hearing Aid Society of Nova Scotia, Secretary of both ACHAA and HASNS. Past CHIPS director and held position on advisory board for Labour Mobility.

Annette believes in giving back to the community and also volunteers on hearing missions around the world in which she helps children discover the world of hearing, which has greatly enriched her life.

Annette lives in Bridgewater Nova Scotia with her husband Randall and has three grown sons, Darrell, Brandon and Cole and a new grandson Spencer who she adores. She also enjoys traveling, painting, driving the Harley or just relaxing by the lake. But she mostly enjoys entertaining and spending her time with family and friends
